June 26, 2016

Members of the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce welcomed The Elegant Plate and Chef Jay D. Allen into its membership with a ribbon cutting June 9.

Allen and his wife Vicki celebrated with friends at the ribbon cutting for their personal chef business The Elegant Plate, which will serve Sussex County and surrounding areas. Allen received his culinary training at L’academie de Cuisine where he graduated with honors and received the President’s Award.  He was also a recipient of The Culinary Trust Scholarship which he used to complete his master’s at the Italian Culinary Institute in Calabria, Italy.

Allen has focused his talents on fine dining at Tersiguel’s French Country Restaurant in Ellicott City, Md., and local restaurants such as The Buttery, a(MUSE.), and Crust and Craft. Now he is fulfilling one of his dreams by bringing his diverse culinary skills to clients’ homes.

The Elegant Plate offers a variety of options and services. The personal chef will come into the home and prepare elegant meals for clients and family members to enjoy. Prepared meal services are perfect for busy families, couples, individuals, athletes and anyone on a special diet. In-home classes are designed to teach individuals or groups who want to begin or expand their culinary abilities.

Allen can create a special occasion with an intimate dinner for two or a small group of friends enjoying a fine dining experience at home. For more information go to www.theelegantplate.com or call 443-955-4927.
