Encore of ‘Monet to Matisse’ film set Feb. 28

February 24, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society announced a three-part Journeys in Art History film series. The focus is to introduce the works of history's greatest painters and provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.

Due to an earlier sellout, an encore presentation of “Monet to Matisse” will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive, Dartmouth Plaza behind the Lewes Wawa. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

From the exhibition walls to the wonder and beauty of artists' gardens like Giverny and Seebüll, “Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse,” is a magical journey to discover how Monet and his contemporaries built and cultivated modern gardens. Guided by passionate curators, artists and garden enthusiasts, this remarkable collection of Impressionists, Post-Impressionists and avant-garde artists of the early 20th century discuss the rise of the modern garden in popular culture and the public's enduring fascination with gardens today. Long considered spaces for expressing color, light and atmosphere, gardens have occupied the creative minds of some of the world's greatest artists.

As Monet said, '”Apart from painting and gardening, I'm no good at anything.”

For lovers of art or lovers of gardens, this is an ideal film. Admission is $6 per person. To purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothfilm.com or call 302-645-9095.
