Every 1 Fitness member concerned about PO annex

April 13, 2018

I read with dismay the article in April 6's Cape Gazette regarding the postal annex moving to the Rehoboth Mall and its impact on the rear mall parking lot. Ray Daiutolo Sr., USPS corporate spokesperson who supports this facility move, stated he hadn't heard from any gym members nor Walmart about the removal of 50 parking places behind a fence.

Could it be that the gym members and Walmart were never informed about said fencing for 50 spots next to the building? The members were informed the annex would be relocating there but we were not informed that 50 parking spaces by the building would be fenced off, severely limiting members from using the parking lot. Our understanding was that the PO would be using the satellite parking lot across from the building for their service vehicles.

My concern is mostly safety for our members, many who are elderly walking long distances in slippery, icy conditions in the winter. I, myself fell entering the gym this winter from the nearby parking lot; I can only imagine now, walking from distances twice as far, how many others will fall and injure themselves.

I believe it was a disservice to all who use this lot, not to be adequately informed so that the Every 1 Fitness members could make our concerns known about this new impact that affects hundreds that use the gym daily - seven days a week.

Fences go up and fences can be taken down. Please tell us there is room to negotiate this horrific impact on Every 1 Fitness members.
