Family fun event set at Tanger Outlets splash fountain June 1

Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach will host a Summer Splash Series of family-fun activities and music on the first Fridays of June, July and August. The events will be staged at Tanger Seaside in the courtyard by Forever 21. The newly renovated courtyard features an interactive splash fountain that’s child-friendly.

A pirates and mermaids-themed event will be the first one in the series, from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday, June 1. The afternoon will feature a DJ, face painting, free treats and samples from TCBY/Mrs. Fields/Pretzelmaker, free photo ops with a mermaid, and an aquatic touch-tank display featuring creatures from below the waves, presented by Cape Water Tours.

“Everyone is invited to attend this event and enjoy a kickoff to the summer season,” said Amy Schnerr, Tanger Outlets general manager.

The event series continues from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday, July 6, with a Super Heroes-themed event and a chance to meet a hometown hero. Local first responders from the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Delaware State Police and Vietnam Veterans Chapter 850 will be on hand, showcasing a real canine hero in training to assist a disabled veteran.

Attendees will meet a Hawaiian princess in the final event in the series from 2 to 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 3. The luau-themed event will include games, crafts, food, music and prizes.
