Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation will present a Mad Bull Mud Run Saturday, Aug. 19, at the state fairgrounds in Harrington. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.; the race starts at 10:30 a.m. Teams of three and individuals will compete on a 2.5-mile course through mud and a dozen challenging obstacles. Prizes include an iPad Mini for the fastest male and female, and a $500 scholarship for the fastest full-time college student. Awards will be made for the top three finishers in all age groups, plus team awards. Racers will get free refreshments and a free performance T-shirt.

Spectators are welcome to enjoy the event as well as live music by Sara Ann Garrison Band. Local singer Garrison has taken the country and Southern rock scene by storm. Food vendors will be on site.

To register, go to www.trisportsevents.com; the fee is $50 per participant.

Net proceeds will go to the foundation whose mission is to build awareness, understanding and positive public perception about Delaware farm operations and fresh local food. The foundation provides educational materials and opportunities, grants scholarships and helps feed the hungry.

This upcoming school year, the foundation's Ag Lab will be going into the public school system to teach children about possible careers in agriculture, help them learn about healthy eating and offer them opportunities to experience what it is like to grow their own food.
