Faye E. Johnson, retired beautician

Mrs. Faye E. Johnson, 90, of Millsboro, passed away at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018. 

Faye was born March 20, 1927, in Lewes to the late Edward King and Helen King Stevenson. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Preston Johnson in 2001; son, Jack Johnson in 2017; brother, Jay King in 2015; son-in-law, Norman Spicer in 2017; and grandson, Chad Spicer in 2009.

Faye was a beautician. She started out at the age of 15 working at Doris's Beauty Salon in Georgetown, and later became a licensed beautician and opened her own shop, Faye's Beauty Shop in Georgetown, which she owned for approximately 30 years.

She was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church, Indian River Yacht Club, Mid-Sussex Ambulance Squad Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, AARP, and former member of the Board of Cosmetology. Faye was a very strong-willed and independent woman who liked to be in charge. She loved spending time with her family, especially eating Sunday dinner at her daughter's house, participating in functions and events at the Indian River Yacht Club, and traveling with family and friends. Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed.

Faye is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Spicer of Georgetown; daughter-in-law Louise Johnson of Millsboro; sister Jean Elliott of Georgetown; brother Wayne King of Middletown; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie King and Jane Lynn Wilkins, both of Georgetown; great-granddaughter Aubrey Spicer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 3, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in the Millsboro Cemetery.
