February classes for adults set at Mispillion Art League

Mispillion Art League Gallery in Milford announced its adult classes for February. Intermediate Pastels with Cathy Walls is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, Feb. 8, 15 and 22. This is an intermediate class to help develop good habits in pastel painting. Students will practice different strokes to achieve a variety of textures and color mixing. Students will learn techniques for painting lively skin tones, rendering effective shadows and creating reflective surfaces. Cost is $60 for members and $70 for nonmembers.

Making Pottery Trays, Soap Dishes and More with Mimi Galligan is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays, Feb. 11 and 25. Students will build by hand with clay as they make their own candy dishes, serving trays, soap dishes and remote control holders. Price includes a $15 materials and firing fee. Cost is $70 for members, $60 nonmembers.

Introduction to Drawing with Cathy Walls is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18. The class will provide three hours of instruction for students to better understand drawing techniques and gain confidence to try a more advanced class. Attendees will learn how to create depth with simple line drawing, and how to use light and shadow to create the illusion of shape and form. Cost is $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers.

Shorebirds Garden Sculpture with Christa Light is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, March 1, 8 and 15. Students will capture the spirit of familiar birds of the Delmarva Peninsula. The sculpture will be an egret in the reeds. At approximately 18 inches tall, it will have a weathered-bronze look. All materials used are nontoxic and safe for the environment. Each participant needs to bring a rock or brick base and a disposable, clean cotton shirt. A kit fee of $10 per person includes all other needed materials. Cost is $60 for members and $70 for nonmembers.
