Ferreira-Marshall win National Clay Court Doubles Championship

Grand Slam Champion Ellis Ferreira and Dr. Dave Marshall recently won the National Men's 45 Clay Court Doubles Championships held at Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, Va.

Ferreira and Marshall won the tournament without the loss of a set. In the quarterfinals they defeated Greg Paukstis and Frederik Skoglund 6-0,6-2. In the semifinals they defeated Ray Stewart and Franklin Chaney 6-4, 6-2.

In the finals they defeated Oren Motevessal and Joe Kim 6-3, 6-2. Motevessal, who is from San Jose, Calif. is the No. 1-ranked 45 singles player in the world. Joe Kim from Wisconsin is currently ranked No. 6 in the United States.

With the win, Ferreira and Marshall are currently the No. 2-ranked Men's 45 Team in the United States. Ferreira and Marshall run the Dave Marshall Tennis Academy in Lewes. Clients range from 4 to 94.
