First Delaware Children in Nature Summit set Oct. 20

The Delaware Children in Nature Coalition announces its first Delaware Children in Nature Summit, Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Delaware Seashore State Park Office at the Indian River Marina. The summit will bring together government, education and private sector partners who are committed to promoting environmental literacy to all Delawareans.

The summit will have built-in networking time for environmental educators and Delaware Children in Nature Coalition members to share successes, challenges and strategies to accomplish the goal of getting children and adults outside, enjoying nature.

The event will also feature the recognition of members who have achieved excellence in providing opportunities for environmental literacy and meaningful outdoor opportunities. The awards are offered by both the Delaware Children in Nature Coalition and the Delaware Association for Environmental Education and marks the first collaboration between the organizations. The organizations will also be recognizing former Senator Robert Venables for his unwavering support and many contributions to the Children in Nature Initiative.

The Delaware Children in Nature Coalition is a partnership with the mission to encourage environmental literacy, increase access to outdoor experiences and promote healthy lifestyles. Delaware Association for Environmental Education promotes environmental and outdoor education with the goal of conservation and sustainability of Delaware's resources.
