Florence Barbara Kollet, devoted wife

Florence Barbara (Gerber) Kollet, 89, of Clayton, N.C., passed away peacefully Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Springbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation in Clayton. She was born in Little Ferry, N.J., March 15, 1928, to the late Edward and Florence (Seifried) Gerber.

Mrs. Kollet became a resident of Rehoboth Beach after her retirement in 1983. She then moved to Clayton in November 2012.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed by all the lives that she touched.

Mrs. Kollet was married for 62 years to Robert G. Kollet until his death Oct. 3, 2012. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Prochnow and her husband Norman Finkle of Selma, N.C.; one son, Robert Kollet and his wife Meakee of Odenton, Md.; three grandchildren, Gary Prochnow of Valley City, N.D., Greg Prochnow and his wife Diana of Colfax, N.C., and Karen Newman and her husband Ronald of Damascus, Md.; and four great-grandchildren, Caitlin Prochnow, Morgan Prochnow, Chloe Newman and Claire Newman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross 805 S. 3rd St., Smithfield, NC 27577. Arrangements are being done with McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
