Florence L. Neglia, active at her church

Florence L. Neglia, 75, of Lewes, formerly of Washington Township, N.J., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at her home.

Flo was born in Glen Ridge, N.J., April 28, 1941, daughter of the late Vincent and Marguerite (Larbalestrier) O'Brien. She was a graduate of the Clifford J. Scott High School in East Orange, N.J. Flo was a self-employed housekeeper for a number of years, and was most recently the shoe department manager at Peebles Department Store in Rehoboth Beach, retiring in 2006.

She was an active participant in St. Joseph's Parish in Washington, N.J., where she was part of the choir, bell choir and president of the Couple's Club. She was also a youth group advisor at Sacred Heart in South Plainfield, N.J., and a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro. In her free time, Flo enjoyed cross stitching, traveling and playing piano.

She is survived by her loving husband of almost 39 years, Joseph P. Neglia; four children, Christine DeCamp and her husband David of Toms River, N.J., Kelly Hayward and her husband Brian of Green Brook, N.J., Michael Beirne of Ohio and Jennifer Coons and her husband Joseph of Conway, S.C.; and 11 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Flo's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
