Fork+Flask Wine & Food Fest raises $14,000 for Children and Families First

June 25, 2017

Recognized as one of America's Top 50 Festivals, this year's Ninth Annual Wine & Food Festival remained focused on helping those close to home. Produced by Fork + Flask, the success of this year's festival made it possible for the award-winning restaurant to raise $14,000 for the community's Children and Families First of Delaware.

"Fork + Flask not only has a fantastic reputation for their palate-pleasing menus, but also for their abundant generosity and commitment to the community," said Laura Rimmer, regional development director for the family-focused, nonprofit organization. The group's mission is to help children facing adversity on their journey into adulthood.

"As this year's beneficiary, we look forward to connecting, engaging and inspiring those who value children and families on the path to self-sufficient, flourishing futures," said Rimmer. The Fork + Flask annual festival, sponsored this year by Echelon Homes, is widely known for its commitment to sharing proceeds with community groups in need.

According to Josh Grapski, managing partner of La Vida Hospitality Group which oversees the popular Rehoboth restaurant, more than 300 guests attended this year's event April 23. Fork + Flask's team of wine experts paired over 50 distinctive wines from around the world with customized gourmet food to complement each wine selection. "The popularity of this festival keeps growing," said Grapski. "This year we showcased 10 international wine regions, and included visiting wine experts to meet and educate our guests."

This year's festival has been recognized by USA Today as one of the top 50 festivals in the country. So what about next year? "We've already begun planning," said Sean Corea, general manager and chef. "It will mark our 10th anniversary, so you can be sure our entire team will be involved!"
