Former Delaware poet laureate Fleda Brown to read Sept. 27 at Browseabout Books

Poet Fleda Brown will be appearing at Browseabout Books at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27, to read from her latest collection, “The Woods Are on Fire.” Light refreshments will be served.

”The Woods Are On Fire” was chosen by Ted Kooser for his University of Nebraska poetry series in 2017. Brown has nine previous collections of poems. Her work has twice appeared in The Best American Poetry, has won a Pushcart Prize, and has twice been a finalist for the National Poetry Series.

Brown is professor emerita at the University of Delaware, where she directed the Poets in the Schools program. She was poet laureate of Delaware from 2001-07. She now lives with her husband Jerry Beasley in Traverse City, Mich., and is on the faculty of the Rainier Writing Workshop, a low-residency MFA program in Tacoma, Wash.
