Francis ‘Frank’ Paul Bryson, National Guard retiree

Francis "Frank" Paul Bryson, 94, of Ocean View, formerly of Wilmington, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Wilmington and was a graduate of Salesianum High School.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, D. Kathryn "Cassie" Bryson; and a sister Mary (Harry) Carter of Wilmington. He is survived by his four children, Karen (Bill) Wilson of Millville, Bruce (Sandy) Bryson of Hockessin, Cathy Bryson of Florida and Kurt (Rhonda) Bryson of Middletown; a sister, Margaret Ann (Dutch) Houser of Wilmington; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Frank was a decorated veteran of the Navy. After his time in the Navy, he trained to become a professional photographer and owned Brooks Studio in Wilmington.

He returned to active military service with the Delaware National Guard. After retiring from active service in the DNG, he and Cassie moved to Ocean View to work as civilians at the DNG Bethany Beach training facility for many faithful years. The "Guard" became his second family.

He will always be remembered as a strong man with a quick wit and sense of humor.

A celebration of his life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may call after 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Frank's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
