Free yoga class set Jan. 27, meditation series to begin Jan. 30

January 25, 2017

A free introductory Svaroopa yoga class is set from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at Lewes Wellness Center on Plantation Road. Attendees are invited to start the process of unraveling tensions in the body and mind, and learn specific poses to alleviate pain and quiet the mind.

Svaroopa yoga is an approachable, supportive style of yoga that focuses on releasing the deep, core tensions around the spine. The practice releases tension in the whole body and quiets the mind into a more peaceful, easy state. The deceptively easy but powerful poses can be modified to accommodate any body, so most everyone can do this yoga. This is a great opportunity to try yoga.

A meditation series will be offered to teach attendees everything they need to know about how to start a regular meditation practice at home. Anyone can learn to meditate. The classes are from 12 to 2 p.m., Mondays, Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, at Lewes Wellness Center.

This series will clear up any misconceptions about what a good meditation is, help attendees with their seated poses and give them all the tools they need to begin meditating regularly at home. Each week, participants will learn a different meditation technique and have the opportunity to practice and experience each one during class and at home between sessions.

The free yoga class and the three-class meditation series are taught by Rajni (Chelsea) King, E-RYT 500. King has been teaching yoga for 12 years and is a certified Svaroopa Vidya meditation teacher. King will provide tips about how to set oneself up for success and receive all the benefits of a regular meditation practice. She is excited to share the benefits of meditation. The cost is $80, which covers all three classes and materials.

The address is 20268 Plantation Road, Lewes. For more information or to register, contact King at 302-430-1089 or chelsealking@comcast.net.
