Gallery One exhibit to run May 31-June 27

May 28, 2017

Gallery One in Ocean View announced the Patterns exhibit, which will be open to the public Wednesday, May 31, to Tuesday, June 27.

Visual patterns are found everywhere in nature, and artists love to paint them. Laura Hickman's pastel "Sea Grape at Sunset" portrays the patterns of twisty branches of a Florida sea grape with added patterns of dappled sunset light on the Gulf of Mexico.

"Another Lucky Bird," an acrylic by Dale Sheldon, portrays "ribbons of clouds hanging in the bright blue sky, constantly moving and creating patterns while the pelican perches and poses on the piling." Eileen Olson found inspiration on the coastline at low tide in Brittany, France. Her "Singing Scallops" acrylic shows the symmetrical and circular design patterns of the shells.

Joyce Condry explores patterns of birds in the genealogy sense with her acrylic "Like Mother, Like Daughters." The painting depicts a mother bird with her three offspring, and she offers a story behind the image. "You can't see it yet, but the girls will grow up looking like they were poured from their mother's mold. She is their model, their protector, and the one who keeps telling them beauty comes from within."

Gallery One is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at 32 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View. For more information, call 302-537 5055 or go to galleryonede.com.
