George M. Donhauser, insurance dept. retiree

George M. Donhauser, 75, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Country Rest Home in Greenwood. He was born Monday, March 15, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., son of the late George Edward and Ellen Mae (Nickols) Donhauser.

George attended St. Paul's Elementary School, Loyola High School, and the University of Baltimore. He began a lifelong career in the insurance industry with the Maryland Insurance Department, moving to Delaware in 1986 to work for the Delaware Insurance Department. George was a principal with Regulatory Insurance Services in Dover, and with INS/RIS in Philadelphia, Pa.

He was a member of St. Edmond's Church in Rehoboth Beach. George cherished moments spent with his family and dear friends, especially sitting on his porch eating crabs and drinking cold beer. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was loved by many and will be genuinely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Steigerwald. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Donna M. (DeLac) Donhauser; his son, Christopher Donhauser and his wife Linda; his daughter, Lisa Prestipino and her husband Steve; his six grandchildren, of whom he was very proud and loved dearly: Dominic Prestipino, Nicholas Prestipino, Christian Prestipino, Matthew Prestipino, Elizabeth Donhauser, and Katie Donhauser; his brother, Robert C. Donhauser; and his sister, Doris E. Finn.

A Celebration of George's life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
