A Georgetown man is in critical condition after police say he was struck by a car along Route 113.

Dimitri Rich, 23, was walking eastbound across the southbound lanes of U.S. 113 at 9:50 p.m. Oct. 23 when he was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 27-year-old Dagsboro woman, said Detective Joey Melvin of the Georgetown Police Department.

Rich landed in the median of U.S. 113 near College Park Drive; the driver immediately stopped and remained at the scene.

Rich was taken to Beebe Healthcare with significant traumatic injuries. Once stabilized, Melvin said, Rich was transferred to Christiana Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.

The driver was uninjured. Drug or alcohol involvement is not being considered a factor on her behalf, Melvin said.

Georgetown Police are continuing their investigation into this incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
