Georgetown woman dies following hit-and-run

A 56-year-old pedestrian critically injured in a hit-and-run in a Georgetown neighborhood Nov. 16 has died.

Isabel Velasquez-Perez of Georgetown was hit by a black vehicle while she was walking on Oak Street, near Garden Circle, in the County Seat Garden Home development in the early morning hours of Nov. 16. Police found her lying on the side of the road shortly before 6 a.m., where she was treated by paramedics and then flown to Beebe Healthcare in critical condition, said Delaware State Police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

Bratz said Velasquez-Perez died Dec. 4.

Police are continuing an investigation and ask anyone with information about the incident to call Cpl. N. DeMalto at 302-703-3267 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
