Germani Maché Truitt-Handy, accident victim

April 18, 2018

Germani Maché Truitt-Handy passed away peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2018, as a result of a tragic auto accident April 12. She was surrounded by family and friends at A. I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington. Germani was born Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, in Lewes. She was a third-grader at North Laurel Elementary School in Laurel.

Germani was a loving, loving, loving daughter and a lovingly-stern sister to her two brothers, Rahmel and Desmond. She was a good friend to many at such a young age. She met and forever placed her loving spirit on all with whom she came in contact. She loved her family and peers.

Germani loved dancing, cheerleading, softball, helping her mommy with the household duties, skating and playing with Rosco, the family dog. She was great at reinforcing Mommy's command to her brothers, and making sure they did exactly what she said.

Germani leaves to cherish her memories, her loving mother, Shequita Truitt of Seaford; her loving father, Jeremie Handy of Selbyville; loving stepfather, Bryan Winder of Seaford; three brothers, Desmond and Rahmel of Seaford, and Jhy'Saan Handy of Berlin, Md.; two sisters, Jermasia Handy of Laurel and Malaysia Handy of Selbyville; three aunts, Shunita Handy of Selbyville, Shakhia Truitt of Seaford and Elia Truitt of Bridgeville; four uncles, Daleton Truitt of Laurel, Donavon Truitt of Bridgeville, Jeremiah Handy and Renaldo Handy of Selbyville; three grandmothers, Melvinlene Truitt of Bridgeville, Sarah Handy of Laurel and Valerie Horsey of Seaford; two grandfathers, Antoine Horsey of Seaford and Willie Warren of Bridgeville; two great-grandmothers, Sylvia Truitt of Bridgeville and Elizabeth Horsey of Delmar; two special aunts, Lucille Savage of Seaford and Talisha Floyd of Millsboro; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

To celebrate Germani's life, there will be service Saturday, April 21 at noon, with a viewing two hours prior at Crossroad Community Church, 20604 State Forest Road, Georgetown.
