Gertrude H. Brophy, retired receptionist

Gertrude H. Brophy, 90, of Ellendale, formerly of Valhalla, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Milford Center in Milford.
Gertrude was the daughter of the late Arthur A. and Hattie (Tompkins) Gaudinier. She was born and raised in Peekskill, N.Y.
She was a receptionist for the Peeksville Evening Star in Peekskill. She attended Ellendale U.M. Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lydon O'Prey; second husband, John Brophy; a son, Peter O'Prey; a sister, Doris Davey; and a brother, Warren Gaudinier.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Pitz of Valhalla; one grandson, Gregory Pitz; sisters, Cheryl Ford of Ellendale, Thelma Rende of Valhalla and Joan Riefenhauser of Beacon, N,Y.; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.
Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m., at the Hillside Cortlandt Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Coutlandt Manor, N.Y.
