A Greenwood man is in critical condition Jan. 11 after police say he was struck by a van while crossing Route 13 south of Greenwood.

Antonio Lambert, who was wearing dark-colored clothing with no flashlight, was crossing the northbound lanes of Route 13 from west to east when he was struck by a van traveling north on Route 13, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Aaron Marchincin, 32, of Seaford was driving a 2011 Ford E250 Econoline van at 2:46 a.m. north of Adams Road when he hit Lambert, who was not in a crosswalk, Fournier said.

Lambert was thrown into a grass median; the van came to a controlled stop north of the impact, Fournier said.

Lambert was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital before he was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center where he is admitted in critical condition.

Marchincin was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into this incident. Route 13 northbound in the area of collision was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
