Hanson, Cooke headed in right direction

September 8, 2017

Mayor Dale Cooke and Commissioner Diane Hanson stand out among those who are running for commissioner in Dewey Beach this summer, and we need to keep them on town council. Please join me in voting for them Sept. 16.

Dale's and Diane's leadership on the town council plays a big part in Dewey's enduring appeal and success. The November 2016 town survey results reflect my own experience of Dewey Beach as a thriving, enjoyable community with broad appeal, becoming more family-oriented, with "a vibrant and respectful environment for all age groups." The town is headed in the right direction.

Dale Cooke and Diane Hanson are resident homeowners with a commitment to their hometown. Dale, a former Marine, has a lifelong record of public service and has served the town on many committees and as commissioner and mayor. Diane has served on town council for 10 years, six as mayor, and is on the board of Delaware's Center for the Inland Bays. Prior to her election, she served on the board of Dewey's Civic League.

As commissioners, they have been instrumental in preserving what draws us to Dewey, as well as in making important improvements recently, including parking and trash collection, and successfully negotiating with the Hyatt improvements that benefit the town.

My family has owned a home in Dewey for 30 years, and I've been coming here most of my life. Dewey has never been better; let's stay the course and re-elect Diane Hanson and Dale Cooke for commissioner.
