Harvest Ridge Winery to host release event July 15

Honors fallen trooper Stephen Ballard with new white wine
June 28, 2017

The winemakers at Harvest Ridge Winery created a new white wine blend and entrusted their loyal fan base with the charge of naming it. Blue Line White was the winning submission, inspired by the recent passing of Delaware State Police Cpl. Stephen Ballard, and other brave members of the nation's law enforcement sector.

In recognition of these dedicated members of the community, Harvest Ridge will host a family-friendly event from 12 to 8 p.m, Saturday, July 15, during which guests will have the chance to try the new wine and purchase bottles with proceeds to benefit the Ballard family.

At the Blue Line White event, visitors can enjoy offerings from several food vendors such as Backyard Louie's BBQ, Vitale's Ice and Muhammad's Caribbean Kitchen. Entertainment will be provided on the winery stage by local songwriter and musician Jim Rezac from 12 to 3 p.m., and Justin McNatt and Emily Moses from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. All visitors are encouraged to bring their children to the event, where they can jump on the moon bounce and participate in other outdoor activities. Delaware State Police and other local law enforcement will be in attendance to meet with guests and talk about their roles in serving area communities.

Beth Rosebrooks, who suggested the name Blue Line White, was ecstatic to hear the news of the event and how it would celebrate Officer Ballard and local law enforcement. "I'm so happy that [the winery] latched onto it like that and it's going to benefit so many people. And that's the Stephen way," she said.
