Health issues focus of RD20 Democratic Committee meeting Oct. 19

University of Delaware Prof. Rita Landgraf will address a variety of health issues and concerns facing the Cape Region at the RD20 Democratic Committee meeting Thursday, Oct. 19, at Fish On Restaurant, 17300 Village Main Blvd., Lewes. Members and guests gather at 5:30 p.m.for refreshments and dinner (optional) followed at 6 p.m.by the presentation. The public is welcome.

Some of the health issues to be discussed include the opiate addiction crisis, the healthcare needs of the growing population of aged residents and the current status of the health and well-being of people in Eastern Sussex County. Landgraf will also discuss what improvements are being explored to improve the health of residents in Sussex County at the University of Delaware. Landgraf served as Delaware's Secretary of Health and Social Services from Jan. 2009 to Feb. 2017. She joined the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences this year as professor of practice and distinguished health and social services administrator. Landgraf also serves as director of the university's Partnership for Healthy Communities, a cross-college, cross-state initiative.

Following the presentation, RD20 Democratic Committee will conduct its monthly business meeting. All Democrats in the district may attend. During the business meeting, Andrea Green, co-founder of Keep Our Wells Clean, will present on a current health concern regarding the wastewater treatment facility planned near Milton. RD 20 is the local Democratic Party organization for residents in the Lewes, Coolspring Harbeson, and Milton areas of Sussex County.
