Helen Louise Gunderman, loved fishing, camping

Born Sept. 15, 1932, Helen Louise Gunderman (Sierer) of Millsboro, formerly of Lykens, Pa., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the Harbor Healthcare Nursing Home, Lewes.

Helen was born in Wiconisco, Pa., and she is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Mildred Sierer; and her late husband, John R. Gunderman Sr.

Helen loved fishing, camping and traveling with her husband, John. After many years of vacationing in the area, they moved from Lykens to Pot-Nets in Long Neck. Together they raised three children, Sherry Griffith (Thomas) of Kentucky, John Gunderman Jr. (Nancy) of Florida, and David Gunderman of North Carolina while living in Lykens.

Survivors include her three children; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, as well a few great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Harbor Healthcare Nursing Home for their exceptional care and love shown toward Helen for the four years she was a resident there.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., for viewing and visitation. Burial will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, where she will be laid to rest with her late husband John R. Gunderman Sr.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
