Henry (Harry) S. Shearman, had career in publishing

Henry (Harry) S. Shearman, 88, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Cadbury in Lewes. He was born Dec. 3, 1928, in New York, N.Y., son of the late Lawrence and Stella (Mathis) Shearman.

Mr. Shearman grew up in Port Washington, N.Y., where he graduated from Port Washington High School. He proudly served with the 11th Air Borne Division in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Hofstra College in Hempstead, N.Y. Mr. Shearman worked for many years in sales and publishing for various companies. He was a member of Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Shearman was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Isabel Sweetman Shearman; his brother Lawrence Shearman; and his sister Stella Shearman Brady. He is survived by his four children: Henry S. Shearman of Allentown, Pa., Margaret Shearman of White Plains, N.Y., Celia M. Shearman of Lewes and David Shearman and his wife Kari Purse Shearman of Frankford; and his four grandchildren: Skyler, Riley, Benjamin and Reese, all of Frankford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m., at Saint Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
