Herbal remedies seminar to begin Nov. 20 in Lewes

Sharon Zeismer, a Christian Certified Health Educator in the areas of natural health, diet and nutrition, hydrotherapy, medicinal herbs, and alternative home remedies, will conduct a two-part Herbal Remedies Seminar for the public. The two class sessions will be presented from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 3, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes. Zeismer will present An Introduction to the Use of Herbs Nov. 20. She will identify the various herbs available, and indicate their individual healing properties and how the herbs interact with the body. Handouts will be given to aid as a future reference. In her second visit Dec. 3, she plans to demonstrate how to make ointments and poultices, among other topics presented.                    

Zeismer was a personal student of the late Charles Thomas, MD, founder of the internationally acclaimed Desert Hot Springs Therapy Center in Southern California. He also was a visiting professor at Loma Linda University School of Public Health in nearby Loma Linda, Calif. Zeismer undertook further studies in diet and nutrition in a course sponsored by the California Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Los Angeles, during which local practitioners in various medical and nutritional specialties played major teaching roles. She has taught health courses in Southern California, Maryland, Florida, West Virginia, Louisiana, Texas, Germany, Hungary, and Serbia.
