Hilda M. Moore, put her family first

October 9, 2017

Hilda M. Moore, 89, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at her home, with her loving husband by her side. She was born Saturday, Feb. 11, 1928, in Georgetown, daughter of the late Washington and Olivia (Coffin) Hudson who were proprietors of a general store on the corner of Bedford and Franklin streets in Georgetown.

Mrs. Moore has been active in the affairs of St. John's Methodist Church at Springfield Crossroads since 1946 until recent years. While enjoying a very busy and structured lifestyle there was never any doubt her family always came first. She felt blessed to be allowed to satisfy her family needs and yet practice her passions. During the early growing family years she worked closely with her husband in the family business and for years she managed the local office dispatching a fleet of trucks throughout the tristate area when her husband worked for LeGore Lime Company.

Mrs. Moore was well known for her decorating skills. She was kept busy by her friends, neighbors and family members when they were building, remodeling or decorating. Though working her magic for friends was most satisfying, Mrs. Moore also decorated professionally, always keenly aware of the public's tastes when showcasing model homes in many of the family company's communities over a number of years.

Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband Carlton Moore; their children: CR and Susan Moore of Doylestown, Pa., and Cathi and Terry Lind of Georgetown; her grandchildren: Christopher and Kate Lind and Courtney and Kylie Moore; one great-grandchild, Carter Lind; and her niece and nephew Myrna and Lynn Moore who Mrs. Moore lovingly cared for when their mother was suddenly stricken with polio in 1952. To this day, their relationship continues as son and daughter, as do all of her nieces and nephews who also survive her: Wayne and Betty Truitt, Ronald and Pat Moore, Merrill Moore, J. Everett Moore Jr., and Teresa and Tom Adams.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. John's United Methodist Church, 22179 Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown. A Graveside Service will immediately follow visiting at 11:30 a.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, Georgetown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Moore's name to St. Johns Trustee's, c/o Teresa Adams, 22910 Park Ave., Georgetown, DE 19947.
