Home owners' associations/boards invited to learn more

Anyone who has ever wondered about the role of the home owners' association and what rules are in place to protect the property owner is invited to learn more on those subjects at the community association information meeting Thursday, March 1.

Sen. Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View, and Rep. Ron Gray, R-Selbyville) organized this meeting that will feature the Common Interest Community Ombudsman of the Delaware Department of Justice, other legal representatives and members of the Sussex County government.
Information on the work of the ombudsman's office, the Delaware Uniform Community Interest Ownership Act and the county's part in community oversight will be discussed. Other topics that could be included in the discussion are board member roles, electing board members, the procedures for filing a written internal complaint with the board, meeting requirements, attracting and retaining volunteers, managing dues efficiently, and other topics.
The meeting will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Roxana Volunteer Fire Department, 39453 Zion Church Road, Frankford.
