Hopkins Farm Creamery to host Alzheimer’s walk event Aug. 25

August 16, 2016

Hopkins Farm Creamery in Lewes has generously offered to be the site of the 2016 Rehoboth Beach Walk to End Alzheimer's Kick-Off set for 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25.

Visitors to the kick-off can learn more about the Walk to End Alzheimer's, register for the walk set for Saturday, Oct. 22, pick up free supplies and obtain information about Alzheimer's disease. Anyone who registers for the walk will get $1 off Hopkins Farm Creamery ice cream.

Walkers will be able to carry one of the Promise Garden flowers. Each color is a representation of the walker's journey with Alzheimer's disease or why they walk: The color blue means "I have Alzheimer's,” purple means, "I have lost someone to Alzheimer's disease," yellow means, "I am supporting or caring for someone with Alzheimer's,” and orange means, "I support the cause and a vision of a world without Alzheimer's."

For Alzheimer's information and resources, including warning signs and symptoms, and a caregiver's center, go to www.alz.org/delval.

The creamery address is 18186 Dairy Farm Road in Lewes. For more information about the Walk to End Alzheimer's, contact Sussex County volunteer Sarah Gilmour at 302-381-1494 or sarahgilmour@verizon.net.
