Imogene D. Spencer, retired state employee

 Imogene D. Spencer, 94, of Milton, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Cadia Healthcare Renaissance in Millsboro. She was born in Milton to the late Arthur B. and Amy (Ellingsworth) Donovan July 4, 1923.

Imogene graduated from Milton High School, and became a secretary for the State of Delaware Department of Insurance, working out of the Dover office. She was a member of The Water's Edge, Milton Campus. She enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and reading.

In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded by her husband, William T. Spencer, in 2014.

She is survived by her sister, Esther D. Reynolds; her nephew and caregivers, Jake Schirmer and Amanda Pickrell; nieces, Stacy Cluney, Laurie Schirmer, Carly Cooper, Amanda Schirmer and Ina Wyatt; nephew, Lawrence Schirmer; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton at 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 19, with a time of visitation at noon. Interment will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
