Irene Doris Evans-Sewell, loved everybody

February 13, 2018

Irene Doris Evans-Sewell was born Thursday, March 26, 1953, in Frankford, the 12th of 16 children born to the late Gordy Benny Collick and Bernice Walters Collick. Lovingly known as Doris, she passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Lewes.

She was educated in the public school system of Indian River in Frankford. Doris enjoyed M&M's with peanuts (but she spit the peanuts out), watermelon and cheese curls. She loved to sing, dance and loved Jesus because praising God was her greatest joy. She loved everybody; everybody was her friend, and would take anybody in if she could. She had a wonderful personality, a trait envied by many.

Doris leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Pamela B. Collick (Michael) of Cheriton, Va.; two sons, Lemuel M. Collick and William L. Collick, both of Seaford; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters: Phyllis, Connie, Sylvia and Gloria; and one brother, James Edward.

The Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, Feb. 17, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 437 N. Front St., Seaford, at 2 p.m. with a viewing two hours prior. The burial will be Monday, Feb. 19, at noon, at Bethel AME Church Cemetery, Cherrydale Road, Eastville, Va. To offer words of comfort or sign the guest book visit www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com.
