Irene (Renie) Vitak, good-natured person

January 17, 2018

Irene (Renie) Vitak (nee Klein) of Rehoboth Beach passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018. She was the much-loved wife of the late George Vitak, and the sister of the late John Klein.

She is survived by her loving son, Michael Cockey of Rehoboth Beach; her sister Carolyn Swindell of Virginia; and her brother, Tom Klein of Nevada. She is also survived by her nieces Denise Creech and Sheila Wright of Virginia; and her nephew, Larry Swindell of North Carolina; as well as grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

Renie was a warm and good natured person who loved living in Rehoboth Beach for the past 24 years. She regularly attended Epworth UM Church with her son and his partner, the late Ron Steen. For the past six years she participated in activities at Beebe Healthcare Gull House, where she was very attached to the caring staff there. Although she had endured many difficult times in her life, her saving grace was a sincere love of people. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always ready for joking and laughter. She will be sorely missed by the many people who delighted in being with her.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m., at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

Donations in Renie's memory may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church for its Good Samaritan Program to the address listed above.
