Irish Eyes gets fire scare

February 27, 2017

Irish Eyes in Lewes had a fire scare on Thursday, Feb. 23, as a box alarm was sounded that caused multiple agencies to respond.

It was a small fire caused by a cigarette that went under the deck, and it was quickly controlled by the Lewes units, according to Lewes Fire Department Public Information Officer Glenn Marshall.

“When we hear Irish Eyes and fire in the same sentence we respond quickly,” said Lewes Fire Department 1st Assistant Engineer Gordon Davis.

Irish Eyes has seen two previous fires that devastated the building.

The fire was extinguished and diners were allowed back in to enjoy the afternoon.
