It’s Halloween at Historic Lewes Farmers Market Oct. 28

October 27, 2017

At the Saturday, Oct. 28 Historic Lewes Farmers Market, customers will find Brussels sprouts, carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic, collard greens, peppers, cauliflower, broccoli, beets, winter squashes including pumpkins, lettuces, apples, artisanal cheeses, mushrooms, oysters, cider, lamb, pork, jams and jellies, milk, yogurt and baked goods, and some of their favorite farmers in costume to celebrate Halloween. Customers are also invited to come to market in costume.

The market has moved to Shields Elementary School, Savannah Road and Sussex Drive, for the fall season. It is open 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays through Nov. 18, the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Convenient parking can be found at the adjacent Lewes School parking lot.

For the remainder of the 2017 season, there will be no Children's Reading Program, demonstrations or bagels.

To help lower economic barriers to local, healthy food, the HLFM matches up to $20 each participant each week with HLFM Bonus Bucks. SNAP participants are encouraged to come to the SNAP tent at the market to pick up the bonus $20 in tokens to use at the market. In addition to SNAP, the Historic Lewes Farmers Market now welcomes participants in Delaware's Women, Infants and Children program. WIC coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the market.

The Historic Lewes Farmers Market is committed to supporting farmers who grow local fruits, vegetables and produce - a real farmers market.
