Jackie L. Shockley, DuPont retiree

Jackie L. Shockley, 73, of Frankford, formerly of Galestown, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at her home.

Jackie was born in Seaford, May 28, 1944, daughter of the late John Lankford and Hilda (Darby) Lankford. She was a 1962 graduate of North Dorchester High School. Jackie retired from DuPont Company in Seaford, with 33 years of service. After retiring from DuPont, she then worked at the Uncle Willie’s in Dagsboro until 2002.

Jackie enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, quilting, reading and traveling. Her true enjoyment came with time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She would attend all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and also loved cooking family dinners on Sunday. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, William P. Shockley; three children, Stewart Smith and his wife Stephanie of Virginia Beach, Va., Heath Shockley and his wife Paula of Frankford, and Brandi Lecates and her husband Lennie of Frankford. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Amanda Marotta, Jonathon Smith, Justin Shockley, Chase Shockley, Charles “Andrew” Wayne, Kierstin Shockley, Caleb Lecates and Jaden Shockley; two great-granddaughters, Lorelei and Sadie Marotta; and three sisters, Sandra Eskridge and her husband William of Galestown, Md., Karen Potter and her husband Leslie of Seaford and Vickie Lankford of Newport News.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Allen and Terri Lankford.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
