James ‘Allen’ Morgan, Air Force veteran

James "Allen" Morgan, 91, of Tampa, Fla., passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, after a brief stay at St. Joseph's Hospital. Mr. Morgan was born Nov. 19, 1925, son of the late Helen and Walter Morgan.

After graduating from Seaford High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. After his enlistment Allen trained as a student pilot but the program was terminated due to the end of World War II before he was fully qualified. He continued to serve in the (now) U.S. Air Force for 26 years with myriad assignments highlighted by participation in the Korean War, duty at a remote site in Alaska, four years in Wiesbaden, Germany, and finally Strategic Air Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, where he retired as a chief warrant officer in 1970. His transition to civilian life was quick and smooth as he joined the Hillsborough Community College staff as the director of logistics activity.

On April 20, 1946, he married Inez Spicer of Seaford, who later passed in 1995. He later met and married Ann Husckaa in 1996, and they enjoyed many years traveling in their numerous RVs.

His is survived by his wife Ann Morgan and her children Nick, Cindy, Rick, Rob, Kelly and Roy; his daughter Janice Annette Morgan Ray and her husband Robert; grandchildren Christian and Wendy; and a great-granddaughter Kylie; and a brother Donald Morgan.

Memorial Services with military honors will be held Saturday, April 1, at 10 a.m., at the Watson-Yates Funeral Home, 609 King St., Seaford. Burial will be private at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.
