James Francis Kahoe, correction officer

Mr. James Francis Kahoe, 63, of Millsboro passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Christiana Hospital. 

Mr. Kahoe was born in Baltimore, Md., May 1, 1954, to the late Stephen M. Jr. and Anna C. Jenkins Kahoe. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded by his brother Patrick and sister Mary Ann.

Jimmy retired from the State of Delaware where he worked as a correctional sergeant at Sussex Correctional Institution and Violation of Probation Center after 30 years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, and a past vice president of COAD the Department of Correction. In his earlier years he was involved with the Millsboro Little League as well as the Millsboro Lions Club. Jimmy was funny and had an ornery side to him. Family and friends came first for him in his life and he will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Belinda J. "BJ" Kahoe of Millsboro; three sons, Christopher McGary (Katie) of Edgewood, Md., Cory McGary of Laurel, and Justin Kahoe (Heather) of Millsboro; seven sisters, Jane Mullins (Gary), Elizabeth Martinez (Joe), Kathy Cooper (Jimmy), Helen Kurtz (Jimmy), Rita Charney (Don), Bonnie O'Shaunessy (Mike), and Joan Haggerty; as well as six brothers, Mickey Kahoe (Mary), John Kahoe (Donna), Joe Kahoe (Debbie), Tommy Kahoe (Robin), Danny Kahoe and Larry Kahoe (Jennifer).

He is also survived by three granddaughters, Katherine, Kaylei, and Brianna as well as 70-plus nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 15,  from 6 to 8 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Grace United Methodist Church, 330 East Church St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m., for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery.
