James G. Motter, master carpenter

James G. Motter, 52, of Selbyville, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at home. He was born April 1, 1964, son of the late Marlin and Margaret (Gipe) Motter.

Mr. Motter was a graduate of Big Spring High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, after which he was honorably discharged. He was a master carpenter, honing his natural talents and abilities throughout his life, and was an avid fan and supporter of the Dallas Cowboys. He was a devoted fiance, stepdad, brother, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Motter was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Motter.

He is survived by his fiancee, Deborah Gordon; his stepchildren: Devon and LeAnn Gordon of Selbyville, Corynne Rutz (Aaron) of Boiling Springs, Pa., and Cody Romberger (Makayla) of Carlisle, Pa.; his brothers: Marlin H. Motter Jr. (Stacey), of Newville, Pa., David Motter of Shippensburg, Pa., Mitchell Motter (Janet), of Carlisle, Pa., and Raymond Motter of Lancaster, Pa.; his sisters: Judy Kann, of Shippensburg, Debra Kail, of Carlisle, and Diane Breya, of Lewistown, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Watson-Yates Funeral Home and Crematorium, a Parsell Family Funeral Home, Seaford.
