Jay Wayne Bestpitch, loved trains, photography

Jay Wayne Bestpitch, 72, of Lewes, formerly of Newark, passed away surrounded by his loving family Friday, March 24, 2017, at his home.
Jay was born in Wilmington Jan. 7, 1945, son of the late Charles Bestpitch and Anna (Cole) Bestpitch. He retired as an industrial hygiene specialist from the DuPont Company with 31 years of service.

Jay loved trains of all types and enjoyed collecting American Flyer trains since his childhood. He also enjoyed traveling and photography, especially taking pictures of lighthouses and learning the history behind them. He was a former member of East Gate Presbyterian Church in Millsboro, and a member of New Life Bible Fellowship Church in Millsboro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Cataldi. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Judith M. (Lamplugh) Bestpitch; a son, Marc (Jeanne) Cygnus of Illinois; two stepsons, Andrew (Christina) Coulter and Keith (Natasha) Coulter, all of Newark; a brother, Charles (Jane) Bestpitch Jr. of Newark; a sister, Dawn (Mark) Titter of South Carolina; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
