Jean Baptiste Broillet Jr., retired metallurgist

Jean Baptiste Broillet Jr., 84, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes. He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Bronx, N.Y., son of the late Jean B. Broillet Sr. and Jeanne Allen Broillet.

Jean grew up in Williamstown, N.J. He was a graduate of the Patton Trade School, in Elizabethtown, Pa.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed at U.S. Steel, Fairless Works, as a metallurgist until his retirement in 1986. While raising their family, Jean and his wife resided in Levittown and Langhorne, Pa. After vacationing at the Delaware beaches for many years, in 2012 they made Milton their permanent home.

During his younger years, he was actively involved in the community as a baseball, basketball and wrestling coach. He also served as a deacon and elder at Faith Reformed Church in Levittown. He enjoyed spending time on Red Mill Pond, driving his boat or riding his jet ski; he actually water skied on his 80th birthday. He was very involved with his grandsons Trevor and Tyler, as they participated in sports throughout high school and college. He never missed a game. He was a true mentor to them.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He and his wife would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on May 1 of this year.

Jean is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his son Jean B. Broillet III and his wife Kathie of Kennett Square, Pa.; his daughter, Michele Paradysz of Townsend; his grandchildren, Jean B. Broillet IV of Birchrunville, Pa., Matthew Broillet of North Coventry, Pa., Alexa Broillet of Chicago, Ill., Trevor Paradysz of Newark and Tyler Paradysz of Townsend.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
