Jessie P. Thorpe, loved island music
Jessie P. Thorpe, 83, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her home. She was born Monday, July 10, 1933, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy Price.
After residing in West Palm Beach, Fla., Mrs. Thorpe moved to Rehoboth Beach, where she resided for 30 years. She loved Island music, especially going to see the Island Boys at the Rusty Rudder. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, Samuel J Thorpe; her daughter, Denise Holmes; and her brother, Harry Price. She is survived by her son, Samuel J. Thorpe III and his wife Patricia of Bear; her daughter, Diedre R. Addo of Rehoboth Beach; her brother, Charles Newell Price of New Castle; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may visit beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
