Joan Carol Doto, Beebe Healthcare retiree
Joan Carol Doto, 69, of Georgetown passed away peacefully Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the St. Francis Hospital Compassionate Care Unit in Wilmington.
Joan was born in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late James R. and Carolyn (Sparenberg) Kohlhaus.
She worked in the medical field for many years, and retired from Beebe Healthcare in medical transcription. Joan was a member of the Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge No. 646, as well as, St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard J. Doto; her twin sister, Jean Carroll; and a brother, Ronald Kohlhaus.
She is survived by four siblings, James Kohlhaus (Beverly) of Wye Mills, Md., Raymond Kohlhaus (Sandy) of Phoenix, Ariz., William Kohlhaus (Shirley) of Baltimore, and Mary Ginder (Bill) of Maine; and a brother-in-law, Timothy Carroll of Monck's Corner, S.C. Joan is also survived by three sisters-in-law of Wilmington, with whom she was close, Marilyn J. Doto (William S. Montgomery), Michele J. Fanny Montgomery (J. Michael Montgomery) and Lori Doto; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, at St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses, caretakers and staff at both Compassionate Care Hospice and CHEER Senior Services for their kind, compassionate and loving care of Joan the past several months. The family would also like to thank Joan and Rick's devoted neighbors, Mary, Joseph and Evelyn, who went out of their way, providing assistance to Joan, after Rick's passing in November 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 405 E. Marsh Lane, Suite 4, Newport, DE 19804 or CHEER Senior Services, 546 S. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
