John Alexander Gutowski, electrical engineer

John Alexander Gutowski, 75, of Lewes and North Fort Myers, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2017, in Cape Coral Fla. Born Nov. 1, 1941, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Alexander and the late Florence (Tormey) Gutowski.

John was an electrical engineer for Westinghouse/Schindler Elevator Corporation in NewYork City for 40 years before retiring. He worked all over the world, including Saudi Arabia and Korea. John was an avid golfer, Yankees fan, Giants fan, and enjoyed the beach. His passion in life was his family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Sandra (Stabingas) Gutowski; his devoted sons, Allen Gutowski, and Glenn Gutowski and his wife Jennifer; four loving grandchildren, Christian, Johnny, Jessica and Christopher; his daughter-in-law, Connie Gutowski; brother Charles Gutowksi and wife Barbara; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John A. Gutowski; sisters Marilyn, Gloria, and Frances; and by his former wife Connie.

A Celebration of John's Life will include a visitation Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the William J. Leber Funeral Home, 15 Furnace Road, Chester, N.J. (corner of Route 206). A Funeral Mass will be held Monday March 27, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Mountain RC Church in Long Valley, N.J. Interment will follow at German Valley Rural Cemetery in Long Valley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's memory to: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or to a charity of your choice.
