John H. Scott Jr., known as ‘D.J. Smooth’

John H. Scott Jr., 48, of Georgetown, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Nov. 3, 2017. He was the son of Barbara M. Scott and the late John H. Scott Sr.

He was a 1987 graduate of Sussex Central High School, Georgetown, and attended one year at Delaware State University, Dover.

He was employed by Nuttle Lumber Co. for many years. He left Nuttle Lumber and went to work for Quality Roofing where he was employed until he passed. He also did sub-contract work. He was a popular DJ in the area known as "DJ Smooth." His hobbies were bowling, golfing and occasionally fishing. His greatest joy in life was being a father to his two daughters, Tiffany and Jayda. He could be found at all of their events, be it cheerleading or dance recitals. He was a die-hard Eagles fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, John H. Scott Sr. and brother Bryan L. Scott. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his lifetime companion, Latasha Harris; two daughters, Tiffany Harris-Scott and Jayda Harris-Scott; mother, Barbara Scott; three sisters, Nikki Scott, Nona Scott-Senghor and Leslie Scott; several nieces and one nephew.
A public viewing will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. The Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at noon, at Grace United Methodist Church, 7 S. King St., Georgetown. No public viewing during this service. Interment will follow at Old Field Cemetery, Millsboro. The Rev. James Hill will officiate.
