John R. Golomb, gifted machinist

John R. Golomb of Ocean View, formerly of Wall, N.J., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, in Delmar, Md.

He was born in Plainfield, N.J., Dec. 25, 1939, to John Golomb and Julia (Bazan) Golomb.

He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1957 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-61 as a jet engine technician. Following his service to the country, he joined the family business, Hidden Brook Grinding and Machine Company in Wall. He continued his career as a machinist with Montrose Industries, Lakewood, N.J., and Armstrong and Sons, Manasquan. He was a gifted machinist who could make or fix anything. While working full time, he raised four children with his wife, Theresa. He was the best husband, father and friend.

He enjoyed his lifelong hobby of building and flying model aircraft. He was a member and past president of Jersey Coast Radio Control Club. Upon retiring and moving to Delaware in 2002, he joined the Lewes Radio Control Club. He was a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA #7584).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Golomb and Geraldine Peterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 1/2 years, Theresa (Wysocki) Golomb and four children: John R. Golomb Jr. of Howell, N.J., Kenneth C. Golomb of Middletown, N.J., Nancy A. Golomb of Corning, N.Y. and Diane T. Levi and her husband Marcel and daughter Lillian of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by his brother-in-law John Peterson of New London, N.H.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 5, at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 215 Crescent Pkwy., Sea Girt, N.J. Interment will follow at St. Anne Cemetery in Wall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in John's name to Coastal Hospice, PO Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802-1733.
