John T. ‘Jack’ Westog, lifelong salesman

John T. "Jack" Westog, 84, of Lewes, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at his daughter's residence in Houston, surrounded by his family.

He was born Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1932, in Bronxville, N.Y., son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Thompson) Westog. He spent his childhood years in western Massachusetts, and he and his wife, Barbara, raised their family in Newark.
Mr. Westog had a lifelong career in sales, working for Sears Home Improvements in Wilmington for 15 years, and Carpenter Motor Freight, also in Wilmington, for 25 years. He was a proud father and grandfather; he loved golf, avid old-movie buff, liked betting on Irish horses at the races, enjoyed playing Pinochle and Bridge, and was a loyal sports fan; University of Delaware football, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, among his favorites. Ever a patriot, Mr. Westog was proud to have served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Marine Corps. His patriotism continued with his membership with the VFW.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Westog was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Westog; his brother Joseph Westog; and his sister Susan Alvarado.
He is survived by his son, Stephen J. Westog and his wife Lynda, of Dacula, Ga.; his daughter, Holly (Westog) Focht and her husband Gary of Houston; his grandchildren: Madeline Westog Siegle, of Greenville, S.C., Eric Westog and Jonathan Westog of Dacula, Ashley Grace Focht of St Abans, Vt., and Sean Focht of MCBH, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; his sisters, Helen Reinke of Charlestown, W.Va., and Lynda Consalo, of Henderson, Nev.; several nieces and nephews; plus various friends and neighbors.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends and family may call beginning at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be at 1 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mr. Westog's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
