Johnny Janosik holds groundbreaking in Dover

July 18, 2016

Johnny Janosik World of Furniture, the Eastern Shore’s largest furniture store, held a groundbreaking July 8 in Dover. The new 60,000 square foot store, to be located in South Dover at Route 13 in Camden, will replace Janosik’s current Dover locations at 2230 and 2231 South DuPont Highway.

The grand opening is slated for late 2016. Developing the project is DEVRECO, a Salisbury, Md.-based development real estate firm that provides turn-key real estate solution services. DEVRECO developers are working in partnership with Salisbury-based builder Gillis Gilkerson. Gillis Gilkerson is one of the largest full-service general contractors on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and brings 30 years of commercial construction experience and more than 1,400 construction projects to the job.

“We’re tremendously excited about this addition to our furniture operations,” said Dave Koehler, chairman of Janosik. “Although we’ve been in Dover for 20 years and have many loyal customers, this store will feature a fresh, new look that more accurately reflects our brand.”

Store features will include an In-Home Design Center, expansive La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio, large Southern Motion Comfort Zone and separate entrance for the store’s extensive mattress department.

“The selection is going to be unparalleled,” said Koehler. “With a wide cross section of brands, styles and price points, there will be something for everyone.”

A family business started by Mary Louise and Johnny Janosik in 1953, Johnny Janosik has grown to include four locations with more than 225 employees. Janosik delivers to customers throughout Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
