Jonathan ‘Jon’ J. Pope, beloved brother

Jonathan "Jon" Joseph Pope, 53, formerly of Lewes, departed this life at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo., Nov. 11, 2017, after a tragic accident.
Jon is preceded in death by his mother, Patricia McWilliams Pope of Colorado Springs; and his brother Roderic Pope of Georgetown. He is survived by his brother Christopher Pope of Santa Cruz, Calif., brother Gregory Pope and his wife Sandra Reyes Pope of Lewes; and his father James Pope II and his wife Ellen Brett of Cape Coral, Fla.
Jon was born in Plainfield, N.J., and raised in Shelton, Conn., and Lewes. He loved growing up at the beach. He worked many different jobs in his lifetime, but his favorite was making pizza at Nicola Pizza in Rehoboth Beach. He lived the last 28 years in Colorado Springs, and enjoyed the natural beauty of the area, particularly the Garden of the Gods and Pike’s Peak.
Jon was very handy and loved to fix electronic equipment, especially stereo equipment on which he would play his large collection of progressive and classic rock albums. He loved watching Denver Broncos football and Jeopardy. He also had a love of animals, mainly his cats. He provided love and support to his mom Pat who also lived in Colorado Springs until her passing in 2014.
The family would like to thank Penrose St. Francis Health Services and the John Zay House in Colorado Springs for their care and comfort. The family would like to extend special thanks to wonderful friends Amy Kratz and Terri Straut for their assistance during a difficult time for the family.
